World Deaf Day Awareness Program at Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission Charitable Hospital, Ambphalla, Jammu
Jammu, September 27, 2025 – Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission Charitable Hospital, Ambphalla, Jammu, observed World Deaf Day by organizing an awareness program to educate the community on deafness, preventive measures, and hearing health.
The program was held in the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Sunil Kotwal, Senior ENT Consultant, Management Committee Members – Sh. Amar Chand Ji, Senior Vice President; Sh. B.B. Gupta, General Secretary; Jatinder Gupta, Member; Dr. Brij Mohan Gupta, Member; and Dr. Sachin Gupta, Member – and senior officials including Dr. Arvind Kohli, Medical Director; Dr. Yashpal Karsyal, Assistant Medical Superintendent; S. Iqbal Deep Singh, Hospital Manager; and Senior Consultants of the hospital.
In his address, Dr. Sunil Kotwal created awareness about ear health and deafness, stressing that common ear infections, if untreated, can cause serious complications. He urged people to seek timely check-ups, proper medication, and treatment, while highlighting common ENT issues such as wax impaction, middle ear infections, and noise-induced hearing loss.
Dr. Pankaj Gupta, ENT Consultant, delivered an informative session on causes, prevention, and management of deafness. He emphasized early detection, modern treatment options like hearing aids and cochlear implants, and preventive steps against excessive noise, infections, and misuse of ototoxic drugs.
As part of the initiative, the hospital conducted a free audiometric test for patients, reflecting its strong commitment to preventive healthcare.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Arvind Kohli, Medical Director, said:

The program, attended by consultants, RMOs, staff, and patients, successfully reinforced the hospital’s guiding principle, “Nar Sewa, Narayan Sewa,” and its mission of serving humanity with compassion and dedication.
