Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission Charitable Hospital Hosts Awareness Rally for 39th National Eye Donation Fortnight.

Amphalla, Jammu, [Date] – In recognition of the 39th National Eye Donation Fortnight, Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission Charitable Hospital (SVMMCH) Amphalla, Jammu, organized an impactful awareness rally in collaboration with the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO). The primary goal of the rally was to raise public awareness about the critical importance of eye and organ donation.
The rally was flagged off by Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal & Dean of Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, and Sh. Mohan Singh Chauhan, Treasurer Management Committee of SVMMCH, in the presence of other distinguished dignitaries, including Dr. Elias Sharma, Nodal Officer SOTTO J&K and Head of Urology and Renal Transplant at SSH Jammu; Dr. Sanjeev Puri, Joint Director SOTTO J&K; Dr. Rehana Khurshid, Medical Superintendent at SSH Jammu; and Doctors from Svmmch Dr.Romesh Gupta, Administrator, Dr. Suruchi Gupta, Sr. Eye Consultant ,Dr Pallvi Sharma, Sr. Eye Consultant, and Dr. Sham Jurangal, Sr. Orthopedic Surgeons .
Paramedical staff of SVMMCH and Students from Rajiv Gandhi College of Nursing, Chak Bhalwal, participated enthusiastically in the rally, holding placards, banners, and raising slogans to highlight the importance of eye and organ donation. The rally covered significant areas including Maheshpura Chowk, Rehari, and Amphalla, and concluded at SVMMCH Amphalla, Rally was warmly received by senior hospital officials including Sh.Anil Gupta President, Sh. Amar Chand Gupta, Sh. Sr. Vice President; Sh.B.B Gupta, General Secretary; Sh. B.S Jamwal, Secretary; Sh. Subhash Gupta Rettd.Principal Session Judge, Member along with Dr. Sachin Gupta, Member and S. Iqbal Deep Singh Manager Hospital Svmmch.
Dr. Suruchi Gupta Chief Eye Consultant at SVMMCH and former senior Resident at PGI Chandigarh Emphasized the importance of corneal transplants and the necessity of eye donation. She provided valuable insights into the complexities and the benefits of eye donation, highlighting how individual contributions can lead to meaningful change.
The Hospital has also initiated the process of securing approval for corneal transplant services at the center to provide active assistance to individuals suffering from blindness.
